Desta Provisions, formerly No Ordinary Love, was founded in 2011 by Jimmy and Rachel Gross. Starting as a grassroots effort in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, the nonprofit became known for reuniting lost children with their families across the country.

Building on this mission, Desta Provisions now focuses on providing essential counseling services to underserved individuals and families, helping them overcome emotional distress and reclaim joy. Services include short-term crisis intervention, ongoing counseling (individual, couples, family, and group), mental health evaluations, and treatment planning.

Your donation to Desta Provisions supports our mission to help others live life to the fullest and is 100% tax-deductible.

Jimmy and Rachel Gross

Jimmy and Rachel Gross met in Austin, Texas, and married in 2000. After living in various parts of Texas, they moved to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, with their young children, where they founded No Ordinary Love, a nonprofit focused on providing services to underserved children and families. The organization gained global recognition for its child reunification program.

The family later relocated to Amman, Jordan, where they continued their work while Rachel studied Arabic and Jimmy managed a British charity using capoeira to help war-traumatized youth. After returning to Texas, Jimmy worked in healthcare for the homeless and managed a rehabilitation facility during the pandemic.

In 2021, they moved to San Antonio, where Jimmy served as Executive Director of a mental health company. Seeing the urgent need for quality client care and employee well-being, they founded Desta Therapy and rebranded their nonprofit as Desta Provisions, with a mission to bring "desta" - joy - back into the lives of others.

Remembering No Ordinary Love

From 2011 to 2019, No Ordinary Love provided food, water, sanitation, and spiritual support to families in Ethiopia. The organization created two transition houses, provided jobs, offered counseling, administered free medical care, and developed income-generating activities for men and women. Remarkably, they reunited over 700 missing children with their families using minimal technology and resources.

Jimmy and Rachel are forever grateful that their family, alongside a devoted Ethiopian team, was able to take part in such extraordinary work.

They will never forget the generosity of their family and all the friends of

No Ordinary Love for making their dream a reality.

Help Others Reclaim Joy!
